I met Prakash Churaman while working at Rikers Island. He was 15 when he was arrested for a murder he did not commit and was coerced by police into making a false confession. Without any other evidence against him I decided to advocate on his behalf and try to help him beat his case. This is the story of how it happened.

I met Song Zhao through a theater director I met in Beijing who had worked with him in the past. I invited him to come to the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing where I was doing a two week residency as part of Pawel Althamer’s Draftsmen’s Congress. He ended up coming twice, and this is a segment of the second meeting.

HOMO – guitar with a broken neck and a rock stuck under the strings, leaves, stones Rabbistravinsky – 3-string cello made from sticks and goat skin. we couldn’t find an amp so we made due with an acoustic collaboration.

This is the first documentary about my work from my 2012 trip to New Orleans to perform in the street during the month leading up to Mardis Gras. I was staying next to a young filmmaker named Patrick Rulh that decided to document part of my trip. The year before I had decided to quit my job to street perform full time in the subway in New York City.
